Postdoc in Experimental and Computational Fracture Mechanics
The position focus on experimental and computational fracture mechanics. A central issue in the work includes experimental testing of mini-CT specimens combined with numerical modeling. The main objective is to improve existing methods for characterizing crack growth resistance in ductile materials. Use of sub-sized specimens in assessment of structural integrity is an area under strong development and includes issues such as geometry effects as well as transferability of laboratory results to actual components.
The outcome of the project is foreseen to be an integrated testing and computational methodology that can be standardized according to regulatory perspectives. You will work in a research environment together with other researchers focused on material and fracture mechanics problems related to metals of interest to the process industry, where parts of the project will be carried out in collaboration with the Swedish nuclear industry.
