Postdoc in Nuclear Fuel Materials
Nuclear Science and Engineering (NSE) at the Department of Physics seeks an ambitious, motivated, structured, and collaborative postdoc to join the nuclear fuel materials team to study fission product kinetics by ion implantation of advanced nuclear fuel (Uranium Nitride). The project is supported by the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority and in collaboration with Westinghouse and Uppsala University. You will lead research efforts using experimental and computational methods to evaluate the fission product diffusion kinetics and the formation of the high burnup structure (HBS) in uranium nitride.
QualificationsRequirements
- A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
- PhD in Nuclear Engineering, Materials Science, Engineering Mechanics or similar.
Preferred qualifications
- A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, obtained within the last three years prior to the Final date to receive applications
- Hands-on experience from lab work related to sintering, powder metallurgy, and characterization techniques.
- Knowledge and experience in modelling techniques in Mesoscale and Multiphysics finite element modelling
- Good communicative skills and proficiency in English both in writing and speaking, as it is required in the daily work.
- Teamwork competence and collaborative abilities, as well as capability to work independently.
- Motivation and dedication to research work is a very strong merit.
- Teaching experience is an advantage.
- Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with specific focus on gender equality
- Independence.
