School Chef​/Kitchen Manager

Position Overview

The Islesboro Central School Chef and Kitchen Manager is responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious, appealing meals for students and staff while maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming kitchen environment. This position is ideal for a creative, organized chef who enjoys working with students.

• Preparation of breakfast and lunches that meet the rigorous standards of the Maine School Nutrition Standards Program.
• When possible, meals should include fresh, seasonal, and sustainably sourced ingredients.
• This position must work within an established budget and maintain accurate food and supply inventories.
• This position is also responsible for ordering, receiving, storing, and properly rotating food and kitchen supplies.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills are a must.

• Professional culinary training or an equivalent practical cooking experience.
• Preference will be given to prior experience.
• This individual must be able to work independently as well as part of a team and make sound decisions with limited resources.

We are looking for a community-minded, resourceful, and adaptable professional who takes pride in nourishing young people.

This is a school year (mid August-June) position.

Compensation will be competitive based on experience and qualifications.
