Payroll and Data Specialist
Maine School Administrative District No. 33 serves students in grades PreK-12 in St. Agatha, ME, home of the Long Lake Fishing Derby, one of the largest fishing derbies in the state. The district has two schools under one roof:
Wisdom Middle/High School and Dr. Levesque Elementary School, a 2018 National Blue Ribbon School. The district is also home to the St. John Valley Technology Center, serving students from MSAD
33, MSAD
27, and the Madawaska School Department.
Maine School Administrative District No. 33 (MSAD 33) has an opening for a Payroll and Data Specialist (30-40 hours per week). The successful candidate will be responsible for completing payroll duties and data specialist duties in MSAD 33's Central Office, located in the St. John Valley Technology Center in Frenchville, Maine. MSAD 33 consists of Dr. Levesque Elementary School and Wisdom Middle/High School, and the St.
John Valley Technology Center. Overall, MSAD
33 employs an average of 70 employees.
- Maintain all aspects of the School District payroll functions. Payroll is prepared on a bi-weekly basis, with accuracy.
- Prepare payroll warrants for signature by the Superintendent and School Board members.
- Prepare payrolls, including deductions for withholding tax, pension, social security, life insurance, health insurance, disability insurance, Chapter 403(b) and Chapter 125 plans, and such other salary deductions.
- Prepare and maintain all necessary earning records, deduction records, and similar personnel payment records.
- Prepare or assist with monthly retirement reports, quarterly Federal and State tax reports, federal withholding tax, state withholding tax, FICA, Medicare report on Form 941 and other payroll related reports.
- Record student data, upload information to the State of Maine's student information system and ensure accuracy. Prepare reports, as needed.
- Answer phone when office secretaries are not available.
- Submit claims for reimbursement or refunds and invoice third parties for services or goods on a regular basis.
- Work with other Central Office personnel to prepare financial and other budget reports at regular intervals.
- Cooperate with auditors and provide information to them as requested.
- Maintain a cooperative relationship and open communications with those holding similar positions in other districts in the region and the state.
- Any other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent or Director of Finance.
- Minimum of an Associate's degree in Business or Office Administration.
- Successfully completed two (2) or more accounting courses.
- Three (3) or more years of related payroll and administrative experience preferred.
- Must be a detail-oriented person, with accuracy.
