Location: Mount Desert

Rusticator is seeking a full-time Shop & Marketing Manager to run our seasonal retail shop in Seal Harbor, Maine. Rusticator is a seasonal high-end home furnishings and interiors shop that provides a custom, community-oriented experience. The shop offers a curated selection of décor and home goods that reflect the character and charm of coastal Maine living. Customers can also shop online year-round, ensuring consistent access to products and inspiration.

This is a hands-on, on-site role for someone who loves retail, loves building community and genuine relationships with guests, and is just as comfortable planning a social post or an email campaign as they are managing inventory and a sales floor. You'll own the day-to-day of the shop and drive the marketing that brings people through the door and encourages online purchases.

We are a family owned small business whose team members thrive in a fast-paced and fun environment and this opportunity is perfect for someone who is energized by their colleagues and customers, who will bring genuine relational skills, is highly organized and enjoys being creative. Bonus if you love design focused interiors!

What You'll Do – Retail
  • Facilitate guest interactions in the shop, via email, on the phone, and on social media, building lasting relationships with community members and returning guests.
  • Be a product expert for shop inventory, fielding questions and providing detailed information to drive made-to-order and custom pieces.
  • Conduct all transactions through our point-of-sale system (Shopify).
  • Assist with sourcing unique, bespoke items and manage purchasing for shop inventory and guest special orders.
  • Gather guest feedback on new products or vendors, including small goods, fabrics, and furniture.
  • Manage all shop-floor and stock inventory: receiving and inspecting new inventory, filing vendor claims, restocking and reordering, and tracking/expediting incoming orders.
  • Coordinate shipping and delivery scheduling for all guest orders.
  • Participate in merchandising the shop to tastefully style and display products.
  • Plan and execute shop events (trunk shows, cocktail parties, and similar) to build the Rusticator brand and community relationships.
  • Track and report on shop revenue and sales performance, flagging trends and opportunities.
  • Manage, hire and schedule seasonal shop associates.
What You'll Do – Marketing
  • Support strategic direction and vision for Rusticator marketing.
  • Manage the Rusticator Instagram account: build and maintain the post plan, handle messages and communication (including Instagram sales and order fulfillment), and ensure everything published meets brand quality standards.
  • Oversee the Rusticator website, manage content, support improvements, including website sales and fulfillment.
  • Lead and execute newsletter strategy, creating and running the plan for Rusticator newsletters.
  • Oversee metrics across platforms, including Instagram growth strategy and newsletter engagement strategy.
  • Design and execute tangible marketing tools, such and post-cards and brochures.
  • Lead holiday card and gift efforts.
What You Bring
  • 2–10 years of experience in retail, marketing, or a combination of both; title and pay commensurate with experience.
  • Outstanding customer service skills, with a willingness to go above and beyond for guests.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, and a passion for systems, processes, and lists.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks at various stages simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of social media marketing, email campaigns, and basic content creation.
  • Experience managing a brand's Instagram presence, including content planning, community management, and using analytics to guide strategy.
  • Comfort with website content management (product listings, page updates) and basic e-commerce fulfillment.
  • Experience with Mailchimp or a similar email marketing platform for building campaigns and tracking engagement.
  • Strong writing skills for newsletters, social captions, and guest communication in a consistent brand voice.
  • Ability to maintain discretion with confidential information.
  • Efficiency in MacOS, Google Suite, Adobe Suite and Canva;
    Shopify experience a plus.
  • Open-minded, positive, and eager to learn and grow with the team.
