Work Hours:

Monday thru Friday 5:00am to 1:30pm, and Saturdays & Sundays when needed. Must be flexible with work hours when needed.
$15.10/hour.

Primary Function:

This individual must ensure that the cleanliness and sanitation standards are carried out daily throughout the greenhouse operation, housing units, Packhouse, lunchrooms, washrooms, offices, etc. By providing the highest cleanliness within our facility ensures we meet our customer's demands under the Food Safety guidelines thus reinforcing our customer relationships.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Washes floors daily with the use of a ride on floor cleaner. Required to keep floor cleaner in sanitary condition and ready to use at all times.
  • Ensures the greenhouse is supplied with PE, chemicals, cleaning rags, and drinking cups.
  • Ensures trash is emptied daily or more frequently if needed.
  • Maintains clean supply carts, clip boards, Hortimax stations, water coolers and other touch point.
  • Monitors foot baths to ensure they don't run dry and are kept clean.
  • Performs pest control activities such as trapping and disposing of pests which may include, but not limited to:
    Mice, rats, snakes, frogs, spiders, birds, crickets etc.
  • Will be responsible for the cleanliness of tank room, production cooler, compactor and waste area, perimeter of pack house and transition area. This will include dusting, mopping, sweeping, wiping, blowing down and sanitizing activities.
  • Transports tools and equipment to sanitation room for cleaning and redistributes them when they come back.
  • Maintains adequate inventories of necessary supplies to carry out duties.
  • Organizes employee uniforms to ensure they are kept stocked and clean.
  • Wears all necessary personal protective equipment required for each task.
  • Will be required to be fork truck trained. Fork truck use is minimal.
  • Provides back-up for other Sanitation/housekeeping positions.
  • Performs other duties as needed.
Education/Background Requirements:
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent required.
  • One-year related work experience required.

  • Understand company Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Understand basic operational and preventive maintenance of dispensers.
  • Possess normal to excellent manual dexterity and motor skills.
  • Possessing good eye-hand coordination.
  • Possessing excellent listening and comprehension skills.
  • Must possess good interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions:
  • Greenhouse Environment, where the temperature averages 70°F and background noise approaches 70 dcbs.
  • Ability to lift 25-50 pounds.
  • Stand for extended times, walking on concrete and uneven surfaces.
  • Sit for extended periods of times.
  • Use of hands and fingers, handle, touch and manipulate items.
  • Speak and/or hear.
  • Walk and reach with hands or arms.
  • Occasionally stoop, reach, kneel, crouch, twist at the waist.
  • Must be able to work around bees.
  • May be working around high-speed equipment and forklift/pallet truck traffic.
