Oxford Casino Hotel, located in Oxford, Maine, is part of Churchill Downs Incorporated and has grown since it opened in 2012. Responsibilities- Responsible for the shift operation of the Security department activities and personnel.
- Oversees safety, security, and assistance of team members, guests, and company during the assigned shift.
- Monitors the activities of all security personnel during the shift to ensure compliance with department and company policies and procedures.
- Schedules, evaluates, and monitors subordinate personnel. Assigns work, grants overtime (with security manager’s approval), early outs, disciplines team members, and recommends wage increases and promotions.
- All Security officers report to the Security Shift Manager; all Security Shift Managers report to the Security Manager.
- Must be 21 years of age and able to obtain/maintain appropriate licensing from the Maine Gaming Commission.
- Demonstrates security enforcement ability and possesses investigative skills and experience. Maintains legible and coherent written communication as required.
- Oversees the safety and security of all customers, team members, and company assets during the shift.
- Monitors activities of security personnel to ensure compliance with department and property policies.
- Promotes a working environment where personnel can perform duties within guidelines, procedures, and laws.
- Maintains confidential handling of information; provides clear incident reports, daily logs, and documentation; investigates and follows up on shift reports.
- Promotes effective communication to staff and management regarding property activities.
- Assists in performing duties of subordinates as required.
- Responds to medical crises, provides first aid, and notifies emergency medical services as needed.
- Acts as liaison between law enforcement and casino management.
- Conducts emergency drills within the security department.
- Provides support and guidance to casino departments and personnel as needed.
- Maintains understanding of gaming laws, state regulations, departmental policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Mediate and resolve issues for employees and guests and maintain effective communication across the department.
- Identifies operational and organizational opportunities and works with security upper management to implement solutions.
- Attends all company required mandatory training classes when scheduled.
- Responsible for key control and inventory of all sensitive keys and operation of the key watcher; controls access and personnel entries.
- Understands and operates the SAFLOK program; ensures locks are programmed and operational.
- Replaces damaged keys and maintains inventory/logs in the spare key box.
- Verifies shipments and inventory of cards, dice, and chips; ensures proper destruction of keys/cards/dice.
- Ensures visitors, vendors, and contractors are logged and accounted for on Oxford Casino property.
- Assumes shuttle operations in the absence of the Transportation Manager.
Skills And Abilities
- Previous Security Officer experience required.
- Understanding of gaming laws, state regulations, internal controls, and departmental policies and procedures.
- Strong report writing skills.
- Ability to deescalate conflict and provide conflict resolution.
- Requires ability to stand and walk for extended periods, climb, reach, push and pull, and lift objects.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs and push/pull a wheeled cart weighing up to 300 lbs; may exert up to 50 lbs of force occasionally, and up to 20 lbs frequently, and up to 10 lbs constantly.
- Work environment may include prolonged loud noise and confined spaces; need ability to remain composed during difficult or emergency situations; position may require exposure to extreme weather conditions.
