Job SummaryResponsible for overseeing the shift operation of the Security department, ensuring safety, compliance, and effective communication during each assigned shift.
Responsibilities- Oversee the safety and security of customers, team members, and company assets during the assigned shift.
- Monitor all security personnel to ensure compliance with department and property policies.
- Promote an environment where subordinates can perform assigned duties within established guidelines, procedures and laws.
- Provide clear, concise incident reports, daily logs and documentation for shift activities and incidents; investigate and follow up on all shift reports.
- Promote effective communication to staff and management regarding property activities.
- Perform duties of a subordinate as required.
- Respond, evaluate, provide first aid and notify emergency medical services for guests and team members requiring medical assistance.
- Act as liaison between law enforcement and casino management.
- Conduct emergency drills within the security department.
- Provide support and guidance to all casino departments and personnel as needed.
- Understand gaming laws, state regulations, departmental policies and procedures, and internal controls.
- Mediate and solve problems for employees and guests, establishing effective communication lines.
- Identify operational and organizational opportunities and work with upper management to recommend and implement solutions.
- Attend all company required mandatory training classes when scheduled.
- Manage key control and inventory for all sensitive keys; operate key watcher and control access.
- Ensure all locks programmed to SAFLOK are operational.
- Replace damaged keys and maintain accurate inventory and logs in the spare key box.
- Verify shipments and inventory of cards, dice and chips.
- Verify proper key, card and dice destruction.
- Ensure all visitors, vendors and contractors are logged and accounted for while on property.
- Schedule, mentor, discipline team members in the shift and maintain adequate staffing levels.
- Maintain full control and authority over the shift.
- Complete payroll, verify timesheets and maintain timekeeping records for all security officers.
Skills and Abilities
- Complete understanding of gaming laws, state regulations, internal controls, departmental policies and procedures.
- Strong report writing skills.
- Ability to deescalate conflict and provide conflict resolution.
Must be 21 years of age and obtain/maintain licensing from the Maine Gaming Commission.
Demonstrate security enforcement ability and investigative skills.
Ability to write legibly and coherently and communicate effectively with others.
Must have previous experience as a Security Shift Manager.
Physical Requirements and Working ConditionsStand and walk for extended periods, climb, reach, push, pull, and lift objects up to 40 lbs (plus occasional 50‑lb force). Push/pull a wheeled cart weighing up to 300 lbs. Work may involve loud noise, close quarters, extreme weather, and exposure to emergency situations requiring composure.
