Responsibilities- Protect and supervise inmates and facility operations.

- Approach interactions with residents, colleagues, superiors, and the public with honesty, fairness, and professionalism.
- Maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and demonstrate integrity, compassion, and self-restraint.
- Reflect the highest ideals of the profession both in and out of uniform.
- At least 18 years old.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (HiSET, GED, etc.).
- Valid driver’s license.

Begin with paid on‑the‑job training (OJT) and state certification:
Pre‑Academy OJT → New Staff Orientation → Basic Corrections Training → 80‑Hour OJT → Certified Correctional Officer Training. Training sessions run Monday–Friday, 8:00a.m.–4:30p.m. Post‑training shifts: 12‑hour shifts (6a.m.–6p.m. or 6p.m.–6a.m.) with a schedule of 3 days on/4 days off, then 4 days on/3 days off. Half the year is off, with no mandatory days off.
