AV Technician
Role Description
The Audio Technician is a full-time, on‑site role based in Long Island, NY. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining audio equipment for live events and multimedia productions. Daily tasks include configuring microphones, mixing consoles, speakers, and recording devices; performing sound checks; and monitoring audio quality throughout rehearsals and performances. The Audio Technician will troubleshoot technical issues, manage cabling and signal flow, and ensure consistent, high‑quality sound that aligns with client and production requirements.
Collaboration with producers, directors, and other technical staff is essential to coordinate cues, implement creative audio solutions, and maintain safe, orderly work spaces.
- Strong skills in audio equipment setup and operation, including microphones, mixers, amplifiers, and PA systems.
- Experience with live sound reinforcement, studio recording workflows, and basic audio editing or mixing software.
- Knowledge of signal flow, gain staging, acoustics, and best practices for minimizing noise and feedback.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly in fast‑paced production environments.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills when working with production teams and clients.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks and cues during events.
- Comfort with physically demanding work, including lifting equipment and working with cables and rigs safely.
- Relevant technical training or certification in audio engineering, sound technology, or a related field; prior experience in entertainment or media production is preferred.
