POSITION SUMMARY:The Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment essential to the mills operations. This role ensures that all electrical systems function safely and efficiently to minimize downtime and optimize production. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, motor controls, etc., as well as the ability to work in a safety-conscious, fast-paced environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Understand and follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Take personal responsibility for their own safety and those working around them.
- Participate in safety huddles, stretch huddles, and near miss program.
- Wear required PPE.
- Perform all work to NEC standards
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Perform routine maintenance on electrical systems, including lighting, motor controls, power distribution, equipment wiring, etc.
- Diagnose electrical issues in machinery, conveyors, saws, push buttons, photo eyes, limit switches, and other equipment, and make necessary repairs to ensure safe and continuous operation.
- Install, test, and calibrate new electrical equipment, machinery, and control panels to ensure they meet safety and operational standards.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on electrical systems and components to reduce downtime and improve equipment lifespan.
- Keep accurate records of electrical work performed, including inspections, repairs, and replacements.
- Work closely with maintenance team, production teams, and contractors to resolve electrical problems and improve processes.
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing industrial electrical systems, including motor control centers (MCCs), conveyors, and heavy machinery.
- Strong knowledge of variable frequency drives (VFDs), electrical wiring, and power distribution systems.
- Familiarity with PLCs
- Experience with electrical schematics and diagrams.
- Familiarity with OSHA and safety regulations related to electrical work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to solve complex electrical issues.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Journeymans License.
- 3-5 years of experience as an industrial electrician, preferably in a manufacturing, sawmill, or heavy industrial setting is preferred.
- Lift 60# from floor to waist, lift 40# from waist to shoulder
- Carry 60# over a distance exceeding 12 feet
- Push 100# in a wheeled cart
- Stand on a cement floor for long periods of time
- Bend, stoop, or squat to floor level repeatedly
- Reach overhead to grasp materials
- Ability to walk up and down stairs to access machinery
