MSAD #41 - Special Education Social Worker

MSAD #41 is seeking a qualified and compassionate Special Education Social Worker to support the social, emotional, and behavioral well‑being of students. The Special Education Social Worker will collaborate with students, families, staff, and community agencies to promote student success, address barriers to learning, and support a safe and inclusive school environment.

Employment Options

Applicants may apply under one of the following arrangements:

  • School‑Employed Position:
    Full‑time employment with the school/district, including benefits in accordance with district policies and applicable contract agreements.
  • Independent Contractor (Per Diem):
    Contracted services provided on a per‑day basis, with scheduling and compensation outlined in a professional services agreement. Independent contractors are responsible for their own benefits and taxes.
Responsibilities
  • Provide individual counseling to students addressing social, emotional, and behavioral needs based on their IEPs.
  • Participate in and contribute to IEP, 504, MTSS, and student support team meetings, as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, counselors, and support staff.
  • Serve as a liaison between school, home, and community agencies.
  • Assist with behavioral interventions and restorative practices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with confidentiality and ethical standards.
  • Support school‑wide social‑emotional and wellness initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Current State of Maine licensure (LMSW or LCSW preferred).
  • Experience working with children and adolescents in a school or clinical setting.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of trauma‑informed practices and school‑based mental health supports preferred.
