RSU #73 is seeking a full-time school social worker to provide services to students in special education at Spruce Mountain Primary School (grades K-2) and Elementary School (3-5). Primarily, a school social worker will address environmental, socio-economic and emotional barriers that inhibit students from accessing maximum benefit from their education. The social worker will work one-on-one or in small groups as outlined in the students’ Individualized Education Plans (IEP).

• Develop individual, group or system level interventions which improve identified problems or concerns, including academic, social / emotional / behavioral / mental health needs as they relate to educational progress according to the students’ Individual Education Plans (IEP).
• Use research-based and technically sound practices to drive decision-making and interventions; and collaborate with school personnel and parents in order to develop and modify student intervention strategies.
• Communicate effectively, maintain effective working relationships, and function effectively as a team member, working collaboratively with others, as well as independently when appropriate.
• Maintain a willingness to be flexible and respond to the changing needs of clients and the district.
• Demonstrate knowledge and high standards of confidentiality.
• Work collaboratively as an interdisciplinary team member with community agencies, families, and school personnel.
• Contracted professionals will be considered.

• Current State of Maine licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Conditional Clinical
• Knowledge and understanding of special education law is preferred

• Payscale for Social Worker (non contracted services) will follow the Teacher scale BA-0 $ 47,594 - DR-30+ $84,917
