Position Type: Seasonal, stipend (no additional health benefits)

Position Overview: Massabesic Middle School is seeking a qualified and dedicated Head Coach to lead the 8th grade Softball team. The successful candidate will instruct student‑athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical conditioning, while promoting academic achievement, sportsmanship, and leadership.

Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma
  • Minimum of one (1) year coaching experience in Softball, preferably at the youth level
  • Ability to develop and implement comprehensive practice plans that support student growth
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration
  • High moral character and ability to serve as a positive role model for students
  • Completion of RSU 57 eligibility, safety, and required training, including:
  • Fundamentals of Coaching
  • Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training
  • Protecting Students from Abuse
  • Student Mental Health and Suicide Prevention
  • First Aid & CPR Training
  • Concussion Management Course
  • Maine DOE Criminal History Record Check
Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and conduct all practices and games in accordance with RSU 57 policies
  • Maintain the safety and well‑being of athletes and ensure proper care of equipment and facilities
  • Promote academic success, sportsmanship, and leadership among student‑athletes
  • Communicate appropriately and effectively with parents, officials, and school administration
  • Attend all required school and MPA meetings
  • Maintain accurate records, paperwork, and required documentation
Physical Requirements:
  • Active participation in practices and games, including running and demonstrating skills
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing 20 pounds or more
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Occasional extended hours and travel via school transportation
