This position plays a key role in delivery and productivity to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and an efficient, profitable department. Frequent communication with drivers, Delivery Driver Managers and the Delivery Center Manager are essential to discuss any changes to the day‑to‑day delivery functions in order to achieve targeted gallons per hour (GPH) results. Serves as a Dead River Company trusted advisor by adhering to our Core Values and Brand Promise.

Essential

Functions
  • Coordinates efficient delivery dispatching and handling of same‑day deliveries in order to meet customer expectations. Assists with the resolution of more complex customer service
  • Oversees the review of all driver manifests to ensure customer accounts are updated accurately and timely and that follow‑up items are being
  • Leads projects with the direction of the Delivery Center Manager in order to maintain customer
  • Reviews K‑Factor exception reporting, run‑out warning report, and next day deliveries and takes appropriate action.
  • Forecasts daily and weekly demand based on weather, degree day accumulation, and direction on degree day pull.
  • Leads discussions at DC Huddle with items relevant to delivery.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with the company safety standards proactively and as issues
  • Ensures that delivery dispatchers and routers are trained and cross‑trained on various administrative procedures.
  • Coordinates and delegates the duties of the dispatchers and routers in the Delivery Center with guidance from the Delivery Center
  • Ensures the timely update of projected sales to the Transportation Department on a daily basis.
  • Regularly prepares driver routes to achieve required GPH goals.
  • Works with Delivery Center Manager in support of delivery standards, supporting annual customer growth and retention goals, meeting GPH goals and attaining targeted NPS

Experience

Previous supervisory experience and knowledge of energy products, equipment and basic service is beneficial.

Education

A high school education or equivalent is required. Education beyond the high school level is desirable.

This position frequently deals with customers, other employees (technicians, drivers, and office personnel), the field service manager, and sales representatives (if applicable).

Decisions Made

The Delivery Center Lead makes decisions regarding same-day deliveries and efficient route optimization. The position also handles customer and delivery-related issues that cannot be satisfactorily resolved by a Delivery Dispatcher or Router.

Safety Considerations

Safety considerations relate to proper ergonomics in an office setting including proper workstation and computer terminal setup for all delivery dispatch personnel.

Equipment Used

Normal office equipment is utilized including a computer terminal, personal computer, calculator, copier, fax machine, and telephone. In addition, the Delivery Center Lead will frequently communicate with delivery drivers via Raven messaging or cellular telephone transmissions.

Most of the work is performed in an office setting with controlled temperatures. The heating season is typically faster paced than the rest of the year.

Physical Requirements Analysis
  • The position requires frequent sitting with occasional standing and walking
  • There is frequent use of the fingers to write, input data into a computer system, and handle paperwork
  • There is frequent communication involving both speaking and listening
Weight or Force Moved

There is rarely a need to lift or move an object weighing more than 10 pounds. Assistance is available for lifting heavier items.
