Job OverviewThe primary function of the Fleet Maintenance Manager is to coordinate and control the fleet maintenance requirements across the entire company spectrum. Utilizes both on‑location repair methods with company technicians where available, outsources to qualified vendors when necessary, coordinates road calls and breakdowns, and establishes purchasing programs.
Responsibilities- Oversee fleet maintenance including in‑house and outsourced repairs.
- Oversee yard maintenance to ensure safe operating conditions are maintained.
- Train staff to support all Fleet Maintenance programs.
- Manage day‑to‑day operations of all Fleet maintenance programs while ensuring maximum efficiencies in cost and service.
- Manage/coordinate communication with mechanics coming into facilities.
- Recruit, train, and direct a multi‑location workforce.
- Control expenditures by overseeing repair functions to reduce or eliminate waste.
- Implement controlled purchasing functions and capitalize on economies when possible.
- Conduct periodic reviews of employee skills and talents.
- Maintain recaps of expenses as best possible using whatever methods are available.
- Maintain constant focus on DOT concerns and requirements.
- Conduct annual associate reviews.
- Evaluate new depot locations for serviceability.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

- Strong knowledge of DOT rules, regulations, safety standards, maintenance, and repairs of tractor‑trailer fleets.
- Proven ability to optimize transportation logistics costs and service performance.
- Skilled in managing multiple teams including hiring, retention, engagement, employee relations, and performance management.
- Ability to respond effectively to equipment and maintenance inquiries and partner with DC and Fleet operations.
- Excellent multi‑tasking and prioritization skills in a high‑volume, fast‑paced environment.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, collaborating across logistics, HR, and operations teams.
- Adaptable to emergencies and operational changes, including overnight or extended shifts.
- Knowledge of regional geography and transportation networks.
- Ability to communicate proactively and effectively with detailed instructions, reading and writing, and awareness of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Proven extensive knowledge of DOT rules and regulations.
- Extensive background in DOT‑mandated repair practices.
- Minimum of 10 years experience in the heavy trucking industry.
- Ability to coordinate teams and projects across multiple fleet locations.
- Strong communication skills, including comprehending and communicating detailed instructions, reading and writing, and knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Minimum age 18 years.
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, push, pull, climb, balance, and crouch.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs without assistance and up to 100 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Comfortable working under all types of weather conditions in both office and yard environments.
- Starting salary of $87,000–$105,000 (based on experience) + bonus potential.
