Food and food service delivery drivers play a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. They ensure that customers’ products arrive on time, in good condition, and represent the company in a professional manner.
Position PurposeThe Driver, Trainee Non‑CDL is an entry‑level training role. Trainees learn to haul freight, operate tractor‑trailers, and support designated driver trainers on deliveries and routes. They communicate with customers, vendors, and coworkers, and perform any duties necessary to serve the company.
Responsibilities- Complete the Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program and ride‑along with a driver trainer.
- Perform all required safety checks (pre‑ and post‑trip) and inspections of tractor‑trucks and trailers in accordance with DOT regulations.
- Report safety issues, repairs, or hazards promptly and follow all company safe‑driving guidelines.
- Inspect trailers for proper loading, secure freight, and perform count checks against invoices.
- Complete required paperwork accurately and legibly.
- Move tractors to loading docks, attach preloaded trailers, and drive to customer locations according to the predetermined schedule.
- Unload products, transport items to customer storage areas, and verify delivery with signatures.
- Collect payments when required and load customer returns onto trailers.
- Unpack damaged goods and returns, complete necessary paperwork, and maintain cleanliness of tractors, docks, and trailers.
- Maintain daily records of hours of service in compliance with Federal, state, and company requirements.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
- 0–6 months of driving experience (internal candidates: 1 year of service in good standing; external candidates: 0–12 months).
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Meet all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report for the past 3 years.
- Pass pre‑employment drug test and road test.
- Attain or hold a valid current DOT Health Card.
- Able to hand‑lift and use equipment to move and stack product cases weighing approximately 60–90 pounds.
