Job Description:
The Assistant Project Controls Specialist supports all aspects of project controls and reporting, including change management, cost control, schedule development, and schedule control. This role partners with project teams to ensure accurate reporting, data integrity, and effective planning across complex infrastructure projects.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while supporting program controls excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining a cost management reporting data warehouse
Perform project planning and scheduling tasks
Coordinate project schedules and develop scheduling reports
Support project setup in Enterprise Planning & Controls software
Review data, maintain logs, and generate reports using P6, SAP, Eco Sys, or related tools
Validate Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS)
Track budgets against Purchase Orders and Subcontracts
Assist with upstream (prime contract) and downstream (PO/subcontract) change orders
Document changes to cost reports and forecasts
Support cash flow development and earned value tracking
Develop Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 schedules
Apply logic ties, resource loading, and document schedule progress
Create diagrams using Microsoft Visio
Retrieve, review, and distribute scheduling reports with backup documentation
Integrate data across programs and support quality checks
Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Experience with Oracle Primavera P6, SAP cost and schedule, and Eco Sys
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Preferred:
Experience with queries and Power BI
Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure or engineering projects
Additional Requirements:
May be required to obtain OSHA 10-hour safety certification
Willingness to travel or accept long-term field assignments
