Distribution Technician I

TRC is seeking a Distribution Technician I in Orlando, FL.

Responsibilities

This position will perform a detailed design of overhead and/or underground electric distribution systems. Possess an analytical competence to interact with a variety of individuals including engineers and experienced distribution system designers.

Key responsibilities include:

Inspection and assessment of utility poles to evaluate suitability for 3rd-party attachments.

Ensuring compliance with safety standards, regulations, and company policies during inspections.

Documenting existing attachments and pole conditions accurately.

Collecting and recording precise measurements, including pole height, spacing, and clearance.

Utilizing GPS devices or mapping software to log pole locations and attachment data.

Preparing detailed reports on pole conditions and attachment feasibility.

Reviewing and processing applications for 3rd-party attachments.

Ensuring all attachments meet National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and local regulatory requirements.

Coordinating with regulatory agencies and stakeholders to secure necessary permits.

Marking poles for attachment locations and ensuring proper labeling.

Conducting pre-attachment and post-attachment inspections to verify compliance.

Identifying and reporting hazards or violations related to pole attachments.

Collaborating with 3rd-party contractors, utility companies, and internal teams to ensure project success.

Providing technical guidance to contractors regarding attachment specifications.

Acting as a liaison between the company and 3rd-party entities.

Identifying poles requiring maintenance or replacement due to attachment stress.

Assisting in coordinating pole replacements or upgrades as needed.

Adhering to all safety protocols and procedures during fieldwork.

Ensuring quality control for all attachment installations and inspections.

Maintaining accurate records of inspections, permits, and communications.

Updating databases with attachment information and pole conditions.

Providing regular updates to supervisors and stakeholders on project progress.

Staying informed on industry standards, regulations, and best practices.

Participating in training sessions to enhance technical skills and knowledge.

Operating handheld devices, mapping software, and inspection tools effectively.

Utilizing pole-loading analysis software to evaluate structural integrity.

Handling ladders, measuring tools, and safety gear during inspections.

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

High school diploma or equivalent required;
Associate's degree or technical certification in electrical engineering, utility operations, or a related field preferred.
0-2 years of experience in utility pole inspections, 3rd-party attachment work, or a related field.
Familiarity with National Electric Safety Code (NESC) standards and local regulations.
Proficiency in GPS mapping software, pole-loading analysis tools, and other inspection technologies.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with leadership and various clients.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (95% of work week).
Comfortable with physical tasks such as lifting equipment, and walking long distances.

Compensation:
In accordance with local law, the below salary range is applicable for the job and location associated with this requisition. Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.

Other Compensation:
Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company's annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
