RN, Healthcare Nursing, Mental Health Nurse

Registered Nurse (R.N.) – Full-time, Overnight (3-12 Hour-Shifts)

The nurse is in charge of unit activities for each shift and supervises the Milieu Coordinators, and Mental Health Technicians. This position administers prescribed medications and provides medication and other educational groups on the shift.

Job Duties:

• Completes and documents comprehensive nursing assessment within 8 hours of patients' admission.
• Identifies patient's needs, problems, capabilities, and limitations that are supported by the recorded assessment data and reflects knowledge of the arts and sciences with particular emphasis on biophysical and psychosocial sciences.
• Interacts therapeutically with residents.
• Acts as a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team in planning care by providing input to the treatment team process.
• Plans continuity of patient care with other members of the healthcare team.
• Utilizes psychotherapeutic interventions to assist patients in regaining or improving their previous coping abilities and to prevent further disability.
• Understands basics of Common Psychiatric Diagnoses. Can recognize behaviors associated with Common Psychiatric Diagnoses.
• Evaluates and demonstrates for age-specific behaviors, motor skills and psychological norms.
• Demonstrates Service Excellence w/Internal & External Customers

Qualifications:

• Education:
  
  Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Years of experience:
  Prefer one (1) year experience as a Registered Nurse. Prefer six (6) months in psychiatric nursing.
• License/Certification:
  Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida. Current CPR Certification required.
• Skills:
  
  Demonstrate leadership, communication, teaching, and management skills. Knowledge of current nursing procedures, the nursing process, correct administration of medications.
• Physical Requirements:
  
  Work is physically and mentally demanding. Extensive walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs. Must be able to lift over fifty (50 lbs.) pounds.
