Position: 7-12 Physics/Math Teacher

Position Overview

The Physics Teacher will instruct grades 7‑12 in college-preparatory, honors, and/or International Baccalaureate (IB) level courses. This position includes both lecture and laboratory components, incorporating class discussions, demonstrations, and hands‑on experiments to support student learning.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in physics and the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively. A successful teacher in this role will engage and inspire students while presenting material in an accessible and meaningful way.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Monitor, assess, and analyze student performance in physics
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and the broader school community
  • Develop, adapt, and implement instructional materials to meet diverse student needs
  • Create a classroom environment that supports students’ academic, social, and emotional development
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records, including grades, attendance, and student progress
  • Evaluate and grade laboratory work, class assignments, and assessments
  • Design, administer, and grade exams and other forms of assessment
  • Supervise and ensure the safe and appropriate use of laboratory equipment and materials
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school committees
  • Provide additional academic support to students, including extra help sessions
  • Assist with school‑wide responsibilities such as exam proctoring, study hall, lunch duty, or class coverage, as needed
  • Support MCAS math preparation for sophomores, if assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Mathematics, or a related physical science field
  • Strong content knowledge in physics and the ability to teach both lecture and lab‑based courses
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and classroom management abilities
  • Commitment to continuous professional growth and student success
