Founded in 1998, Mystic Valley Regional Charter School (MVRCS) is a high‑performing public charter school serving more than 1,700 students in Kindergarten through Grade 12 across four campuses in Malden, Massachusetts. Students come from the surrounding communities of Everett, Malden, Medford, Melrose, Stoneham, and Wakefield.
MVRCS operates on an extended school day (8:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.) and a 200‑day academic year, providing students with substantially more instructional time than traditional public schools. The school emphasizes a structured, academically rigorous environment rooted in traditional pedagogy, high expectations, and the faithful implementation of carefully selected curricula.

Position SummaryMystic Valley Regional Charter School is seeking a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and mission‑driven History Teacher to join our 7–12 faculty. The ideal candidate will possess strong content knowledge, excellent classroom management skills, and a commitment to academic excellence. Candidates should be passionate about helping students develop critical thinking, historical understanding, and strong analytical writing skills within a structured and supportive learning environment.
EssentialResponsibilities
- Implement the established History curriculum, including International Baccalaureate (IB) coursework where applicable
- Teach five History classes daily using Core Knowledge and IB instructional methodologies
- Develop and deliver engaging, standards‑aligned lessons with clear instructional objectives
- Assess student progress regularly and provide timely feedback through assignments, progress reports, and report cards
- Administer standardized assessments as directed by the Department Chair and school leadership
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning, instructional improvement, and data analysis
- Maintain strong classroom management consistent with the school’s structured discipline model
- Participate actively in faculty meetings, department meetings, and professional development opportunities
- Support school‑wide programs, activities, and events
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the History Department Chair and school leadership
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in History or a related field required
- Demonstrated content expertise and enthusiasm for teaching History
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to analyze student performance data and use it to inform instruction
- Excellent classroom management, organizational, and time‑management skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and administrators
- Familiarity with curriculum standards, educational practices, and school policies
- Experience assessing student performance and writing progress reports
- Commitment to continuous professional growth and reflective practice
- Ability to differentiate instruction to support diverse learners
- Successful completion of applicable Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL) within one year of employment
