Malden High School, established in 1857, is a vibrant and inclusive learning community. The school currently serves nearly 1,800 students in grades 9-12 and is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. Ranked by Niche as the most diverse high school in Massachusetts, MHS proudly reflects the strengths of its multicultural population; this year students represent more than 55 countries and speak over 40 languages.
Guided by the district’s core values of Include and Collaborate, Embrace Growth, and Do Right by All Kids, the school strives to provide an environment where every student can thrive both academically and personally, and prepare themselves for the broadest possible range of post‑secondary aspirations. Students’ diverse needs are met through its program for multilingual learners, inclusion supports and specialized classes for students with disabilities, and the school’s Pathways program.
- Under supervision of a special education teacher, assist with and/or provide high quality instruction to students with a variety of mild to moderate learning disabilities who spend the majority of their day in the general education environment
- Provide services in dedicated classes at (including Learning Assistance Center, Literacy Skills, and Numeracy Skills) in which a teacher and ESP support up to 12 students with disabilities
- Support students in the acquisition of academic goals set by the special education team
- Provide instructional support through one‑on‑one or small groups to reinforce lessons, clarify instructions, and adapt materials to individual learning styles
- Collect data related to student IEPs to monitor student progress and inform instruction as directed by special education teacher
- Implement student accommodations and/or modifications per student IEPs with support of special education teacher
- Utilize instructional and assistive technology for students, as needed
- Provide explicit instruction in meta‑cognitive and executive functioning skills (time management, organization, self‑advocacy, etc.) as directed by special education teacher
Reports To: Building Principal and Special Education Program Manager
Salary: Commensurate with Malden Public Schools’ Unit C salary scale.
