Position Summary

Mystic Valley Regional Charter School is seeking an energetic and dedicated Physical Education Teacher to teach students in Grades K–6.

The successful candidate will foster students' physical, social, and emotional development through engaging instruction that promotes physical fitness, motor skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and lifelong healthy habits. The ideal candidate is committed to creating a safe, structured, and positive learning environment where every student is encouraged to participate, build confidence, and develop a lifelong appreciation for physical activity.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging physical education instruction for students in Grades K–6.
  • Develop lessons that promote physical fitness, motor skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy lifestyles.
  • Create and maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.
  • Assess student progress and maintain accurate attendance, grading, and student records.
  • Complete progress reports and report cards in accordance with school expectations.
  • Communicate regularly with students, families, and school leadership regarding student progress.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, grade-level meetings, Teacher Assistance Team (TAT) meetings, and professional development activities.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and implement accommodations as required.
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences and participate in Back-to-School Night, Open Houses, and other school events.
  • Fulfill assigned morning, lunch/recess, and afternoon supervisory duties.
  • Support and uphold all school policies, procedures, and behavioral expectations.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, and support staff to promote student success.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by school leadership.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health Education, or a closely related field required.
  • Massachusetts teaching license (or eligibility for licensure) in Physical Education preferred.
  • Experience teaching physical education or leading youth athletic, recreational, or fitness programs preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of physical education curriculum, child development, and age-appropriate instructional practices.
  • Excellent classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to promoting student wellness, character development, and academic excellence.
  • Must obtain required Massachusetts educator licensure and pass applicable MTEL examinations within one year of employment.
