Position Summary

Mystic Valley Regional Charter School is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and mission-driven Grades K–6 Elementary Teacher to join our Lower School faculty. The successful candidate will provide rigorous, standards-based instruction while fostering a structured, engaging, and supportive classroom environment where students are challenged to reach their full academic potential.

The ideal candidate is committed to high expectations, values collaboration, and embraces evidence-based instructional practices. Teachers at MVRCS implement the school's curriculum with fidelity while cultivating strong relationships with students and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality instruction using the school's approved curriculum, including Direct Instruction and the Core Knowledge Sequence.
  • Establish and maintain a structured classroom environment with clear routines, procedures, and high behavioral and academic expectations.
  • Foster a positive classroom culture by reinforcing appropriate student behavior through the school's behavior management model.
  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging lessons that promote student growth and mastery of grade-level standards.
  • Monitor student progress through ongoing assessment and use data to inform instructional decisions.
  • Maintain accurate lesson plans, student records, and progress documentation.
  • Submit required instructional updates and curriculum implementation reports to school leadership.
  • Collaborate with grade-level colleagues to ensure curriculum alignment and share instructional best practices.
  • Attend weekly grade-level meetings, Teacher Assistance Team (TAT) meetings, faculty meetings, and ongoing professional development.
  • Implement accommodations and modifications for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Section 504 Plans in collaboration with special education staff.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and complete required documentation as appropriate.
  • Prepare report cards and progress reports and conduct parent-teacher conferences throughout the school year.
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with students, families, colleagues, and administrators.
  • Participate in school-wide events, including Back-to-School Night, Open Houses, performances, and other community events.
  • Fulfill assigned supervisory duties, including morning arrival, lunch/recess, and afternoon dismissal.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Lead Teacher or school administration.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; degree in Elementary Education or a related field preferred.
  • Massachusetts Elementary Education license or eligibility for licensure preferred.
  • Successful completion of applicable MTEL examinations within one year of employment.
  • Strong instructional, classroom management, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction to support student achievement.
