Role OverviewThe Information Technology Department at Cambridge Health Alliance empowers high-quality, equitable, and patient-centered care through innovative and secure health IT solutions. The Sr. Systems Administrator is responsible for the selection, development, implementation, and support of enterprise-level systems technologies at CHA, providing technical guidance and direction in defining the technology architecture for systems and applications.
Responsibilities- Provide technical guidance and direction in defining the technology architecture for systems and applications.
- Balance a deep understanding of key business drivers with technology solutions to maintain and enhance administrative and clinical operations.
- Work collaboratively with senior staff and IT managers to outline technical strategy for the selection and implementation of new systems.
- Serve as a senior technical authority on server, operating system, storage, and desktop architectures.
- Collaborate with Sr. Directors and Managers in Epic, Applications, and Telecom/Network groups to ensure seamless integration and support of products.
- Champion the establishment of technical direction, corporate approach, and methodologies for the use of specified technology.
- Develop technical proposals describing high-level technical architecture and solutions.
- Implement chosen technical solutions.
- Analyze new technologies and conduct competitive analyses.
- Help set priorities for R&D and product implementation.
- Promote interfacing and control of the organization’s current technology and disseminate technological information throughout the organization.
- Advanced degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or a related field required.
- Recent certifications or equivalent experience in two or more of the following:
Microsoft Server OS, Linux (RHEL preferred), Google Cloud Platform, Google G‑Suite, Hypervisor (Citrix Xen Server preferred), scripting/programming language, HPE Synergy, HPE One View. - 10+ years of systems administrator responsibility in an enterprise mission‑critical environment.
- Demonstrated project management and vendor management experience.
- Mastery of Linux and Windows Server operating systems.
- Advanced scripting/programming in at least two of the following:
Bash Shell, Perl, Python, VB Script, Visual Basic, C++, Microsoft .NET. - Strong knowledge of operating system security concepts and auditing/monitoring of systems.
- In‑depth knowledge of specialized blade server hardware platforms such as HPE Synergy and HPE One View.
- SAN experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of DBMS (SQL, MySQL, Oracle, Intersystems Cache, LDAP, etc.) and Microsoft SCCM, Windows Active Directory, Anti Virus tools, Comm Vault Backup.
- Experience with enterprise systems (servers, storage) and hypervisors such as Citrix Xen Server and VMware ESXi.
- Experience managing a large Enterprise G‑Suite environment and building/migrating infrastructure in GCP.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker and Containers; experience with Whats Up Gold, SIEM tools such as Splunk.
