The Youth Leadership Initiative (YLI), which is part of the Office of Church Relations, is dedicated to raising up the next generation of Christian leaders. Through various projects and events, the initiative provides youth across America with resources and training to develop the skills necessary for pursuing lives of leadership, committed to Christ.
This position would be responsible for assisting the YLI director in the administration of events, communications and fundraising. They will aid in building bridges through networking with leaders in Churches of Christ and Restoration churches as well as prospective students from those churches. They will also oversee and train student workers who serve in the Cross Ways Christian leadership training event as well as student workers in the Church Relations office.
Duties- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise student workers serving at Cross Ways, ensuring operational excellence. Lead strategic planning for the event's budget, marketing initiatives, participant engagement, registration, service projects, and all related logistics for this 9-day program.
- Direct and oversee Won By One, Pepperdine's six-member student a cappella group, including performance scheduling, organizing summer tour schedule, communication with host churches and youth events, budget administration, contract negotiations, scholarship allocation, and coordination with the Musical Director.
- Manage and execute all logistics, communications, registration, and on-campus arrangements for the Next Gen Preacher Search, including oversight of the 2-day event for 25+ speakers and coaches, in collaboration with the YLI Director.
- Manage and optimize the calendar scheduling, budgeting processes, expense substantiation, website updates, and all email/phone communications for the YLI Director, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
- Lead collaboration with Harbor Coordinator in managing student worker production for Harbor Week. Assign and oversee roles in Lecture Central, Making Waves, social media promotion, transportation, and other operational areas. Promote Harbor Week at Youth Ministry Events.
- Lead and coordinate fundraising initiatives and donor engagement strategies through the Church Leaders Council and YLI Endowment, including creating and distributing quarterly newsletters, donor renewal communications, and annual stewardship gifts.
- Represent Pepperdine at Christian youth ministry events nationwide, cultivating strategic relationships with youth ministers and students. Plan and execute travel logistics and manage two annual Pepperdine Youth Ministry Network events.
- Co-develop and implement strategic plans for Harbor events alongside the Church Relations Specialist and Harbor Coordinator, including class recordings, event promotions at youth ministry gatherings, and participant registration management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications Required- Bachelor's degree.
- 3 years of relevant experience in a professional work environment.
- Organizational and administrative experience, including budget management, managing multiple projects, etc.

- Knowledgeable in Apple devices, file sharing, mobile devices, PC, Mac, phones, scanning, copiers/printers, and fax machines.
- Knowledge of the Churches of Christ in relation to other Restoration Movement churches.
- Basic video and website editing capabilities.
- 4+ years of administrative experience in a higher education setting or related.
- Actively involved at a local Church of Christ.
- Administrative support experience demonstrating organizational skills and ability to work well with many different personalities.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and motivating others effectively.
- An understanding of youth groups and youth-related church programs.
- Knowledge of Church of Christ Youth ministry.
- Proficient in either iMovie, Adobe Premiere, or Final Cut.
