Overview

This is a role for someone who can build trusted referral partnerships with the polish of luxury hospitality and the integrity of a clinical program.

We are a premier Malibu-based Residential Treatment Center (RTC) offering highly personalized care for a limited number of clients at a time. We serve private-pay clients and also accept insurance, supporting families and professionals who expect exceptional clinical outcomes, clear communication, and uncompromising confidentiality.

We’re hiring a Business Development Manager to expand our referral network, strengthen strategic partnerships, and represent our program with a consultative, relationship-first approach.

What you’ll do
  • Build and steward long-term referral relationships with therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, interventionists, concierge physicians, case managers, alumni professionals, attorneys, HR/EAP leaders, and select corporate and community partners
  • Conduct consistent, high-quality outreach: in-person meetings, presentations, tours, and partner education
  • Collaborate closely with Admissions and Clinical leadership to ensure accurate program representation, aligned fit, and seamless handoffs
  • Manage account plans for priority partners, including re-engagement and retention initiatives
  • Maintain a clear, measurable pipeline in CRM; track outreach activities, tours, referral patterns, and conversion insights
  • Represent the program at conferences, community events, and professional association meetings
  • Provide market intelligence: competitor insights, referral feedback, payer trends, and partnership opportunities to refine messaging and service delivery
Week in the life of a Business Development Manager
  • 8–12 partner meetings (in-person/virtual) with targeted referral sources
  • 1 facility tour or program introduction (for clinicians, interventionists, or professional partners)
  • 1 partner education touchpoint (micro-training, lunch-and-learn, case consult availability, or resource share)
  • Daily coordination with Admissions on fit, availability, and referral experience standards
  • 2–3 hours/week of CRM hygiene + reporting (pipeline stages, notes, follow-ups, and next steps)
  • 1 community or professional event/month (or hosted partner gathering)
What success looks like

Success metrics (performance):

  • Increase in qualified RTC inquiries aligned with clinical criteria
  • Growth in active/referring partners and repeat referrals from priority accounts
  • Consistent outreach activity levels and on-time follow-up completion
  • Clean, reliable CRM data with clear pipeline visibility and forecasts

Quality metrics (brand):

  • Partner satisfaction: responsiveness, clarity, and professionalism in every interaction
  • Accurate expectation-setting for private-pay and insurance pathways (no over promising)
  • Admissions handoffs that feel seamless, discreet, and well-orchestrated
  • High-integrity representation of services, outcomes, and levels of care
  • Long-term partner retention built on credibility, not pressure
You’re a fit if you have
  • 3+ years in business development, clinical outreach, referral relations, or strategic partnerships in behavioral health, healthcare, concierge medicine, or a related high-trust environment
  • A consultative partnerships mindset: you educate, align, and solve without sales pressure
  • Strong understanding of the RTC continuum of care and referral ecosystem (or the ability to learn it quickly)
  • Comfort discussing private-pay positioning and insurance access with accuracy and discretion
  • Excellent follow-up discipline and communication (email, phone, in-person)
  • CRM fluency
  • Ability to travel locally for meetings and events; valid driver’s license
Preferred experience
  • Existing Southern California referral network in behavioral health
  • Experience with insurance workflows, verification of benefits (VOB), utilization review collaboration, or payer-aware admissions pathways
  • Event strategy, public speaking, and clinician education presentations
  • Background in high-end hospitality/service environments where discretion and responsiveness are non-negotiable
