ResponsibilitiesJob Summary
Under the general direction of the Mountain AV Manager,the Lead Event Technician-Audio-Visual provides advanced technical maintenance, event support, troubleshooting, and user training for audio-visual, broadcast, and live event technology at Mountain Waves Arena and other AV-enabled spaces. This positionmaintainsprimary operational oversight of assigned technical functions, supports events that may occur during business hours, evenings, and weekends, and partners with campus stakeholders, vendors, and CENTERS team members to deliver reliable, professional, and guest-centered event experiences.
This position works on-site at Pepperdine as part of a hybrid AV Team serving the new Mountain at Mullin Park multi-purpose facility. Opening in October 2026, the Mountain at Mullin Park will transform the University’s main campus. Thisstate-of-the-art complex will not only be home to leading fitness and well-being resources for the entire Pepperdine community, the estimated 3,600-seat arena will givethebasketball and indoor volleyball teams an extraordinary home court facilitycommensuratewith those throughout the West Coast Conference.
Essential Functions
- Provide high-quality support for arena technology hardware, software products, audio-visual equipment, broadcast equipment, and live event technology.
- Configure, operate, test, and troubleshoot audio-visual, broadcast, graphics, routing, and event-related technical equipment before, during, and after events.
- Use established scripts, checklists, service procedures, and good judgment to resolve issues promptly and escalte matters when needed.
- Lead integration testing and provide input during project planning, requirements gathering, setup, and post-event review.
- Create, monitor, and update service tickets for assigned work; document troubleshooting notes, resolutions, recurring issues, and stakeholder communications.
- Provide on-the-spot training, technical guidance, and service explanations to faculty, staff, students, clients, guests, vendors, and event partners.
- Coordinate technology resources, support event schedules, and help resolve resource conflicts when demand exceeds available capacity.
- Maintain team operations guides, training materials, frequently asked questions, equipment documentation, and shared technical resources.
- Identify service improvements based on support trends, client feedback, event outcomes, peer input, and operational assessment.
- Support clean, safe, organized, and professional work spaces, storage areas, control rooms, and shared event environments.
- Provide technical guidance, event direction, task coordination, and training support to student employees, part-time employees, temporary staff, vendors, or event support personnel as assigned.
Site Specific Responsibilities
