The Housing Communications and Assessment Coordinator drives the department's communication strategy through targeted mass messaging, system-driven operations, and student feedback assessment. Serving as a vital link between Housing Operations and the residential community, this position manages outward-facing messaging across various digital platforms, including the housing portal and Star Rez. While providing direct support to students and parents navigating complex housing inquiries, billing, and contract disputes, this role also leverages data from student body surveys to advise leadership on policy improvements.

The Housing Communications and Assessment Coordinator collaborates closely with the Occupancy and Assignments Manager, the Director of Housing Operations, and the Engagement Coordinator to ensure consistent, empathetic, and clear messaging.
As a staff member in Student Affairs who works closely with students, this person serves as a Christian role model to students.

Duties
  • Develop, write, and edit communications content (notifications, updates, etc.) for the residential community and maintain email templates, ensuring that departmental communication through various platforms remains timely and consistent.
  • Assist the Occupancy and Assignments Manager with communications related to room change, semester transition, and housing assignment processes. Respond to student and parent requests or concerns involving room assignments, meal plans, and billing.
  • Design, distribute, and analyze surveys targeted at the student body to track housing trends, campus satisfaction, and communication efficacy. Identify trends and make recommendations for policy and process changes.
  • Create, organize, and maintain automated communication workflow in Star Rez.
  • Support to Housing and Residence Life Directors as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Higher Education, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience) and 1 year of experience in communications, customer service, or assessment.
  • Must have experience handling parent/student disputes, drafting public messaging, and using survey data to guide decisions.
  • Strong writing and de-escalation skills to resolve sensitive student, billing, and contract disputes clearly and calmly.
  • Ability to analyze survey feedback, recommend policy changes, manage communication timing independently, and coordinate effectively across campus departments.
  • Proficiency with standard office software (Microsoft Office or Google Workspace) with solid Excel skills for data work, along with experience using online survey tools like Qualtrics or Google Forms.
Preferred:
  • 2+ years working in university Housing & Residence Life.
  • 3 years of experience in communications, customer service, or assessment.
  • Experience managing automated messaging schedules or campus housing portals.
  • Working knowledge of campus housing operations and experience maintaining consistent departmental branding across messaging channels.
  • Experience with Star Rez property management software (specifically the email scheduler and automated workflows), housing portal management, and university Student Information Systems (SIS).

This is a Regular, Nonexempt, 40 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Range: $24.53 - $27.25 per hour
