Senior Manager, Business Unit Strategy

Owns strategic analysis and competitive research. Derives key insights and recommendations for Workplace leadership to inform divisional strategy and decision making. Structures problems to evaluate Vanguard's position compared to competitors. Uncovers ways to create value for the business and improve Vanguard’s financial position, competitive standing, and risk profile.

• Provides direction and guidance to a team of strategy analysts around key strategic topics and questions. Leverages and manages cross-functional teams as required.
• Provides thought‑leadership by identifying strategic topics and presenting compelling ideas for research evaluation to Divisional Leadership.
• Participates in department‑level strategic planning, contributing insights derived from analysis and synthesis of the team. Manages client relationships and anticipates needs.
• Develops and leads strategic, competitive, and product analyses. Consults independently with internal clients to define the business problem, issues, and planned approach for research and analyses. Leads work planning and business problem diagnosis, coaching less experienced strategy analysts in best practices and building business acumen.
• Synthesizes analyses, key findings, and potential solutions into actionable recommendations. Works with senior managers to prepare and deliver materials, including client presentations, white papers, case studies, etc.
• Interprets and analyzes highly complex data using business acumen to derive key insights. Verifies the quality, accuracy, and reasonableness of the data. Displays, organizes, and crafts data into a compelling storyline with actionable insight for the client.
• Develops and implements operational plans to achieve departmental objectives. Works with senior management in the planning, development and execution of short‑ and long‑range goals.
• Stays abreast of industry, market, and competitive trends. Supports efforts to keep the senior management team informed of key industry, competitive, and product trends. Recommends new and enhanced capabilities and services.
• Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

• Minimum eight years of related work experience.
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. MBA or graduate degree preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong facilitation and presentation skills to senior management.
• Excellent research, analytical, and problem‑solving skills with a proven ability to derive meaningful insights from analysis.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft applications (PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) and AI efficiency tools (e.g., CoPilot).
• Excellent project management and prioritization skills.
