Position OverviewTax Strategy & Operations Manager – Malvern, PA (On-site or Hybrid) – reports to the Tax Manager. Base salary $130,000 – $180,000 exclusive of bonuses and benefits. This role leads the redesign and modernization of our tax preparation practice, driving transformative change across all aspects of tax services.
Responsibilities- Assess and redesign existing tax workflows for efficiency and scalability.
- Lead migration from Pro Series to CCH Axcess, managing data transfer, workflow setup, and staff training.
- Develop standardized processes, templates, and checklists to enhance quality control and turnaround time.
- Create and execute multi-year business plans to transition the tax practice into a profitable, sustainable operation.
- Partner with leadership on client capacity strategies, managing reduction and reopening to new clients; establish pricing models and service tiers.
- Lead, mentor, and manage seasonal tax preparers; oversee the full hiring lifecycle.
- Collaborate with financial advisors to deliver proactive year‑round tax planning strategies for full-service clients.
- Prepare and review individual tax returns of varying complexity (K-1, Schedule C, rental income, advanced strategies) ensuring accuracy and client communication.
- Act as liaison between tax, advisory, operations, and compliance teams; communicate clearly with all stakeholders.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Active CPA license (required).
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, taxation, finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience preparing complex individual tax returns.
- Experience leading process improvement initiatives, software transitions or practice-level transformations.
- Proficiency with CCH Axcess or similar cloud-based solutions preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, hire, and manage a team, especially in a seasonal or high-volume environment.
- Strong business acumen and ability to develop and execute business plans.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
Workday preference. - Exceptional interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and ability to build trust across departments.
