South Pacific Meats Malvern is seeking Trainee Company Meat Inspectors to join our Compliance team.
This is a unique opportunity to play a critical role in New Zealand's export meat industry, ensuring the highest standards of food safety, product quality, animal welfare, and regulatory compliance are maintained throughout the processing operation. Company Meat Inspectors are responsible for inspecting animals before and after slaughter, identifying diseases and defects, maintaining accurate industry records, and ensuring compliance with Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) requirements and company standards.

We are looking for motivated individuals who have:
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good communication and record-keeping skills.
- A commitment to food safety and quality.
- The ability to make objective decisions.
- A willingness to learn and undertake formal meat inspection training.
No previous meat inspection experience is required. Successful applicants will receive full training and support towards achieving an industry recognised meat inspection qualification. Training is completed while employed and working on site.
What You'll Be Doing- Conducting ante-mortem and post-mortem inspections.
- Assessing carcasses and offal for defects and abnormalities.
- Monitoring hygiene and processing compliance.
- Recording and maintaining accurate inspection data.
- Communicating inspection outcomes to operational and compliance teams.
- Contributing to continuous improvement in food safety and quality systems.
To ensure a safe workplace, South Pacific Meats conducts pre-employment medical checks and drug screening. Applicants must be eligible to work in New Zealand.
