Professional level Civil Engineering Position that operates with minimal supervision to develop projects. Tasks include obtaining funding, gaining environmental and community approvals, and supporting preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates.
ResponsibilitiesThis position provides project delivery including board updates and resolutions, and works with consultants and contractors for project survey, construction, and inspection. Expected to sign engineering documents and prepare information for local, state, and federal funding sources.
Ideal CandidateMotivated and technically skilled engineering professional with a strong foundation in civil engineering principles and a desire to grow within public service. Detail-oriented and analytical, with ability to interpret plans, data, and regulations to support sound engineering decisions. Communicates effectively, both in writing and verbally, and is comfortable collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders, including contractors, developers, regulatory agencies, and the public.
Adaptable, eager to learn, capable of managing multiple assignments in office and field environments. Demonstrates sound judgment, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work that supports safe and sustainable infrastructure. Collaborative mindset and professionalism in public interactions are essential. Experience with engineering software, project coordination, and regulatory compliance is especially well-suited for this role.
Training and ExperienceAny combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities might be:
A 4-year degree in Civil Engineering, along with a minimum of 4 years of experience working directly with a Registered Professional Civil Engineer in the planning, design and execution of Civil Engineering Projects.
Special RequirementsPossession of a driver’s license valid in California.
