Description

The Operating Room Registered Nurse Training Program is a rare opportunity for a nurse with any level of experience wishing to join our Operating Room Team! The training will combine both classroom education, and preceptorship with qualified perioperative RNs. All experience levels are encouraged to apply if you have ever had interest in working in the OR!

Once the course is completed, the Operating Room Nurse will be able to practice on an independent basis in the Operating Room. The OR Nurse initiates a plan of care based on identified medical, surgical, and nursing diagnoses that is consistent with knowledge of illnesses, injuries, diseases, human behavior and outlined standards of care in the Operating Room (O.R.). He/she directs and coordinates with other departments and ancillary personnel to provide a safe environment and a high standard of quality care.

The OR Nurse provides nursing care to surgery patients and supervises personnel in these and related activities, supervises the care given to assigned patient in a single O.R. and has charge of patient safety, provision of supplies and equipment, and maintaining asepsis.

What You'll Do:

  • Carefully assess and monitor the physical status of the patient prior to, during, and immediately after the surgical procedure.
  • Plan perioperative nursing interventions necessary for expected outcomes based on specific surgery, illnesses, injury or disease, behavior and O.R. standard of care.
  • Teach the patient and family basic information about the perioperative experience.
  • Anticipate potential problems and adapt the plan of care to the surgical procedure, and sets priorities in emergencies, changes in patient status and unusual occurrences.
  • Create and monitor the sterile field.
  • Anticipate the need for equipment and supplies before the case begins.
  • Evaluate nursing interventions in relation to established expected outcomes.
  • Reassess the patient's status identifying unresolved problems and implements revised plan of care by communicating the reassessment.

What You'll Need:

  • State of California Registered Nurse License required.
  • American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification required.
  • American Heart Association or American Red Cross ACLS certification preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with patients, peers, physicians, and ancillary departments.

Job Information:

  • Full-time, 12 hour varied shifts.
  • Starting wage $58.47 per hour.
