Operating Room Registered Nurse

Mammoth Lakes, CA | Acute Care

Contract (13 Weeks) | Rotating Shifts | 12-Hour Shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM including holidays and weekends | On-call required: one call shift per week (7:30 PM – 7:00 AM), scheduled immediately following a shift

• Assess and monitor the physical status of surgical patients; collect and record data through patient interviews, observation, review of records, diagnostic results, and physician consultation to guide patient care planning and delivery
• Actively listen to patients and identify their needs and perceptions as they relate to the surgical procedure; identify and implement interventions necessary for expected outcomes based on specific surgery, illness, injury, or disease
• Anticipate potential problems and adapt to surgical procedure changes; set priorities in emergencies, changes in patient status, and unusual occurrences
• Demonstrate competency to create and maintain a sterile field and anticipate the need for equipment and supplies prior to case start
• Demonstrate knowledge of expected surgical outcomes and anesthesia drugs; evaluate nursing interventions in relation to established expected outcomes
• Reassess patient status, identify unresolved problems, and implement revised plans of care through effective communication with the care team

• Active State of California Registered Nurse License required
• American Heart Association BLS certification required
• American Heart Association ACLS certification required
• Minimum of two years of operating room experience required
• Strong comfort level with Orthopedics (Arthrex, DePuy, Synthes), General, and ENT surgical procedures
• Ability to work effectively with patients, peers, physicians, and ancillary departments

• Cerner EMR experience preferred
• CNOR certification preferred
• Detail-oriented with exceptional communication and critical thinking skills
• Collaborative team player comfortable in a fast-paced surgical environment
