Position: NETWORK PLANNING ANALYST

The Network Planning Analyst plays a critical role in supporting Gulf Air’s network planning activities. This includes optimizing hub structures, maximizing fleet utilization, and strengthening route presence, with a focus on key Origin & Destination markets. The analyst is responsible for enhancing network performance and revenue through in-depth operational analysis, strategic route optimization proposals, and accurate forecasting. The role also involves identifying new market opportunities, supporting charter operations, and preparing detailed Commercial Business Cases backed by solid analysis and economic justification.

MAIN

DUTIES
  • Network Planning
    • a. Support the preparation and continuous refinement of Gulf Air’s Network Plan.
    • b. Conduct comprehensive studies and data analysis of existing routes, market trends, and load factors to propose measures that mitigate losses and enhance profitability.
    • c. Develop and improve analytical procedures to enable timely, data-driven decisions in response to dynamic market conditions.
    • d. Coordinate with internal departments and external stakeholders to respond proactively to changes in demand and routing, ensuring optimal connectivity and revenue within operational constraints.
    • e. Contribute to fleet deployment strategies by aligning route planning with aircraft availability and suitability.
    • f. Monitor competitive developments and industry trends to assess their impact on the network strategy.
  • Network Performance
    • a. Analyze the performance of Gulf Air’s current network and recommend adjustments to improve profitability and fleet utilization.
    • b. Develop, maintain, and enhance performance monitoring tools, including regular reports and dashboards to support informed decision-making.
    • c. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to route economics, load factors, yields, and connectivity.
    • d. Evaluate seasonal variations and provide input into the seasonal planning cycle (Summer/Winter schedules).
    • e. Identify underperforming routes and provide recommendations for corrective actions such as frequency adjustments, aircraft changes, or schedule modifications.
  • Commercial & Charter Planning
    • a. Prepare comprehensive Commercial Business Cases to support new route development, frequency changes, or route cancellations.
    • b. Conduct economic and financial analysis to support senior management decisions.
    • c. Collaborate closely with the Revenue Management, Sales, and Marketing teams to align network planning with commercial objectives.
    • d. Support alliance and codeshare strategy through network and connectivity analysis.
    • e. Participate in cross-functional planning meetings to ensure network decisions are aligned with overall corporate strategy.
  • Charter Operations
    • a. Evaluate and assess requests for charter operations based on commercial viability, fleet availability, and network impact.
    • b. Coordinate with internal stakeholders (such as Commercial, Flight Operations, and Ground Handling teams) to plan and execute charter services efficiently.
    • c. Ensure charter flights are incorporated effectively into the existing schedule without negatively impacting regular operations.
    • d. Prepare performance reports and post-flight evaluations to measure profitability and operational impact.
    • e. Support ad hoc planning and scenario analysis for seasonal or special-event charter opportunities.
EDUCATION & TRAINING
  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Specialized training in forecasting and planning systems.
EXPERIENCE
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a responsible role within the network department of an international airline.
  • Preferred candidates will have a strong background in forecasting and planning, demonstrating expertise in analytical methodologies and strategic decision-making.
