Job Description – Head of Commercial & Service Development Role Overview
The Head of Commercial & Service Development is responsible for leading the Group's commercial strategy, business development activities, and new service development initiatives. The role oversees proposal management, pricing strategies, contract negotiations, deal structuring, and the identification, development, and launch of new service lines across the Group.
The position works closely with Operations, Finance, Technology, and Executive Management to drive revenue growth, enhance profitability, strengthen client relationships, and ensure the successful commercialization of new business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities Commercial Strategy & Business Growth- Develop and implement commercial strategies that support the Group's growth objectives and market expansion plans.
- Identify new business opportunities, market trends, and revenue streams across existing and emerging sectors.
- Establish commercial targets and performance metrics aligned with organizational objectives.
- Lead business development initiatives to secure new clients, partnerships, and strategic opportunities.
- Monitor market conditions, competitor activities, and industry developments to inform commercial decisions.
- Lead the preparation, review, and submission of proposals, tenders, and commercial bids.
- Ensure all proposals are commercially competitive, financially viable, and aligned with client requirements.
- Coordinate with operational and technical teams to develop comprehensive and compelling bid submissions.
- Establish proposal development standards, templates, and approval processes.
- Monitor tender pipelines and oversee opportunity qualification processes.
- Lead commercial negotiations with clients, partners, and stakeholders.
- Structure commercial agreements to maximize profitability while mitigating business risks.
- Review contract terms, pricing structures, service levels, and performance obligations.
- Collaborate with legal and finance teams to ensure contractual compliance and risk management.
- Support major contract renewals, amendments, and strategic commercial partnerships.
- Develop pricing models and commercial frameworks for existing and new services.
- Conduct financial and commercial analysis to support pricing decisions.
- Evaluate profitability, margins, and revenue performance across service offerings.
- Identify opportunities to improve commercial efficiency and increase revenue generation.
- Ensure pricing strategies remain competitive and aligned with market conditions.
- Identify opportunities for new service offerings and business diversification.
- Lead the development, validation, and commercialization of new service lines.
- Conduct market research, feasibility studies, and business case evaluations.
- Develop go-to-market strategies and launch plans for new services.
- Work with operational and technology teams to ensure successful implementation and scalability.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, strategic partners, and key stakeholders.
- Represent the Group during commercial discussions, presentations, and negotiations.
- Collaborate with internal departments to align commercial objectives with operational capabilities.
- Support customer retention initiatives and account growth opportunities.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for commercial and service development activities.
- Monitor sales pipeline performance, proposal success rates, revenue growth, and profitability metrics.
- Prepare regular reports and presentations for executive management.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across commercial processes and business development activities.
- Lead and develop the commercial and business development teams.
- Establish a high-performance culture focused on growth, innovation, and customer satisfaction.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.
