Scope and General Purpose of JobThe Graphic Designer (in conjunction with the Sales and Marketing team) will make the hotel(s) come alive from a marketing and collateral perspective. All work will be in line with the hotel’s business plan and in accordance with corporate policies and procedures, as well as local requirements and regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Creation and execution of print, digital and outdoor communication in line with established media plans.
- Retouch imagery, resize artwork, develop new print solutions, campaign creative, social media artwork, corporate gifts, event invitations, presentations, photo editing and advertisements.
- Maintain the integrity of the brand; responsible for all visual creative.
- Supervise brand consistency standards within the property and relevant outlets, following design briefs and guidelines.
- Design and produce marketing materials – advertisements, collateral, signage, flash pieces, electronic brochures and presentations that reflect the brand’s image and style to drive hotel revenue.
- Partner with Marketing Managers and related operational departments as part of a project team to provide design and conceptualisation solutions.
- Familiarise with customer demographics and develop an appropriate look and feel for all promotional and event‑related collateral.
- Monitor the progress of all projects, maintain project files and archives, and provide continuous communication to the Marketing and/or project team regarding ongoing project status.
- Communicate effectively to target markets the amenities and benefits of the hotel, including refurbishments, food and beverage provisions, conferences, banqueting and events.
- Maintain effective relationships with all members of target media, electronic and print – local, national and international – to encourage and maximise coverage of events and promotions.
- Respond to media enquiries for comments and/or reports.
- Create innovative and consistent communication designs for marketing and communications materials – print, presentations, digital and events.
- Provide graphic design ideas and execute all design requests.
- Design, build and maintain micro sites, landing pages and blogs.
- Create and edit digital clips.
- Build a photo database and photograph campaigns.
- Create HTML newsletters and e‑marketing communications, staying abreast of design trends to improve deliverability.
- Create, develop and market key events for the hotels, especially during key business periods.
- Take photographs of all internal functions, banquet and conference functions and VIPs.
- Work closely across all hotel departments, seeking proactive opportunities and planned promotions to address specific business challenges, as required.
- Ensure compliance with business operations laws, hospitality operations laws and all applicable laws, corporate standards and guidelines.
- Foster and develop effective associate relations throughout the hotel.
- Ensure that all potential and real hazards are reduced immediately.
- Fully understand the hotel’s fire, emergency and bomb procedures.
- Ensure that emergency procedures are practiced to provide for the security and safety of guests and associates.
- Anticipate possible and probable hazards and conditions and correct them or take action to prevent them from happening.
- Ensure that the highest standards of personal hygiene, dress, uniforms and appearance are maintained.
- Design – knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models.
- Communications and Media – knowledge of media production, communication and dissemination techniques and methods.
- English Language – knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, spelling, grammar and composition rules.
- Fine Arts – knowledge of the theory and techniques required to compose, produce and perform works of music, dance, visual arts, drama and sculpture.
- Computers and Electronics – knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment and computer hardware and software applications and programming.
