Client Responsibilities
You are expected to work effectively as a member of a worldwide network of professional advisors, sharing responsibility, providing support, maintaining communication, and updating senior team members on progress.
- Collaborate with a team of VAT professionals to combine cross‑border transaction experience with local tax knowledge across industries.
- Participate and assist in preparing for meetings with management teams.
- Assist in preparing reports and schedules delivered to clients and other parties.
- Develop and maintain productive working relationships with client personnel and build strong internal relationships within the VAT practice and other service lines.
- Build deep understanding of Customs Law and its practical application across countries.
- Understand and apply regional Free Trade Agreements and key customs concepts such as valuation, classification, and origin.
- Identify and discuss VAT considerations for clients in outbound investments.
- Engage with colleagues in overseas offices to deliver VAT advice concerning global jurisdictions.
- Prepare for potential introduction of VAT in different countries and discuss impact with clients; collaborate with internal teams to provide indirect tax expertise for audit and transaction projects.
- Ability to build strong client relationships.
- Excellent communication in both written and oral English.
- Identify risk areas, conduct effective reviews, and know when to refer upwards.
- Client‑focused, commercially aware team player who can build effective relationships at all levels.
- Project management skills: plan and prioritise work, meet deadlines, and monitor own budget.
- Solve problems creatively and pragmatically.
Highly motivated individuals with excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to prioritise shifting workloads in a rapidly changing industry. Effective communicators who are confident team players collaborating with people from various teams while looking to develop their career in a dynamic organization.
Qualifications & Experience- A degree in economics, finance, tax, or accounting.
- At least one year of relevant experience as an Indirect Tax professional.
- Experience working for a Big4 accounting firm is preferred; however, candidates from law firms or with relevant industry experience will also be considered.
- Customs duty advisory experience is preferable; VAT/GST advisory experience will also be considered.
