Visa and Government Relations Officer
The British School of Bahrain in Manama, B13, BH offers a full‑time on‑site position for a Visa and Government Relations Officer. The role will begin in August 2026 and is responsible for efficiently managing visa, LMRA, CIO, MOE, MOL & GOSI HR‑related transactions. The officer will maintain strong relationships with ministries, keep the Head of HR updated on employment legislation changes, and support staff visa processing.
RoleSummary
We are a selective, co‑educational, independent school providing education from Nursery through Year 13. The curriculum follows the National Curriculum for England and Wales, offering IGCSE and A‑Level/BTEC examinations.
Key Responsibilities- Act as Ministry Liaison: timely processing and renewal of work visa, residency permit and CPR for new and existing staff.
- Manage LMRA, CIO and medical exam formalities for new expatriate hires; apply for visit visas and complete Letters of Undertaking.
- Liaise with the Deputy Head of HR to update GOSI and LMRA in the system, add new staff and remove resigned staff.
- Maintain up‑to‑date passport, visa and CPR documents in hard and digital HR files.
- Assist teaching staff with visa assistance requests.
- Keep current knowledge of employment legislations, the Bahrain Labour Law and visa processing requirements.
- Collate and manage MOE teaching permit applications and renewals; track application status.
- Coordinate with the HR Assistant to ensure documentation is in order for MOE/BQA/BSO audits and inspections.
- Prepare and organize data required for the annual MOE Statistics report.
- Working knowledge and experience of immigration, GOSI, MOE, LMRA and labour law affecting national and expatriate employment.
- Strong employee relations and people‑management skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Expertise in both Arabic and English, with excellent reading and writing proficiency.
- Excellent planning, organisational and time‑management abilities.
- Attention to detail, methodical approach and adherence to policies and procedures.
- Innovative mindset, self‑motivated, adaptable, flexible, systematic, analytical, and strong team spirit.
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3years of relevant experience.
- 2 to 3years of HR administration experience; experience in the education sector is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management; strong Excel skills.
- Experience working in a Google environment is preferred.
