Plumber Journeyman

Overview

The Plumber assembles, installs, and repairs pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems. Includes cutting and threading pipe, assembling and installing valves and pipe fittings made of metals (e.g., iron, steel, brass, lead) and nonmetals, conducting tests to identify leaks, and installing and repairing plumbing fixtures such as sinks, commodes, showers, and water heaters. Replaces washers in leaky faucets, mends burst pipes, and opens clogged drains.

May weld holding fixtures to steel structural members. In addition to plumbing duties, the plumber will escort subcontract workers, buses, and trucks to various locations.

• Perform all assigned duties safely and efficiently to maintain a safe work environment.
• Maintain, install, and repair plumbing across systems including fire suppression, pool operations and maintenance, water, gas, and sanitary/storm sewer systems.
• Modify, repair, replace, and maintain component parts.
• Read and interpret work orders, parts requests, drawings/schematics/blueprints, and manuals to accomplish duties.
• Conduct periodic inspections and maintenance, maintaining systems per written guidance and applicable changes.
• Maintain operating forms and records; ensure proper use of all assigned shop equipment; provide on-the-job training as required.
• Schedule work and perform quality assurance through site visits.
• Escort subcontract workers, buses, and trucks to various locations.
• Perform other duties as assigned in accordance with contractual, functional and mission requirements.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Plumbing Journeyman license through any U.S. state.
• Backflow certification preferred.
• Driver’s license with at least 1 year of remaining validity and ability to drive a standard transmission vehicle.
• U.S. Passport with at least 6 months of remaining validity.
• Ability to obtain Common Access Card (CAC).
• English communication skills (written and oral).
• Experience
• 1–4 years of related experience.
• Skills
• Good verbal and written communication to direct employees, prepare reports for management, and disseminate information.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
• Ability to utilize computer-assisted systems to perform duties.
