Job Summary The Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Lead serves as a school-based instructional leader responsible for supporting the effective implementation and continuous improvement of the division’s adopted SEL curriculum in the school building. The SEL Lead works collaboratively with school administrators, teachers, student services staff, families, and community partners to promote a positive and supportive school culture that fosters students’ social, emotional, and academic growth.
The SEL Lead will support educators in integrating SEL practices into classroom and school-wide activities, assist with monitoring program implementation and outcomes, facilitate professional learning, and support SEL-related family and community engagement efforts. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong commitment to student growth, equity, collaboration, and the creation of supportive learning environments aligned with the goals and strategic priorities of Manassas Park City Schools.
Requisite Education And Skills
- Minimum of two years of experience as a school counselor preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of social-emotional learning frameworks, practices, and curriculum implementation.
- Ability to analyze data and use appropriate tools to monitor program implementation and effectiveness.
- Ability to plan and facilitate professional learning for staff.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, families, and community partners.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with school and division leadership and other stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities And Duties
- Support and monitor implementation of the division’s adopted SEL curriculum at Cougar Elementary School.
- Conduct classroom observations, review implementation data, and gather feedback to support consistent and effective delivery of SEL programming.
- Collect, analyze, and report SEL-related data, including student survey results and program outcomes, to measure impact and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with school leadership and staff to integrate SEL practices into classroom instruction, school-wide practices, activities, and initiatives.
- Communicate and coordinate with curriculum partners and division staff to provide targeted professional learning and resources that support consistent, high-quality SEL implementation.
- Serve as a resource to teachers and staff regarding SEL practices, strategies, and available resources.
- Support family and community engagement efforts related to social-emotional learning.
- Assist in planning, coordinating, and implementing at least one division-wide SEL-focused community event in collaboration with families, community partners, school staff, and other stakeholders.
- Participate in relevant meetings, professional learning opportunities, and planning sessions related to SEL programming.
- Perform other duties and support projects related to SEL programming as assigned.
The position may require lifting or moving instructional materials, classroom supplies, or equipment weighing up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and occasionally up to 25 pounds or more.
