The Gas Pipefitter is an integral position in the construction, maintenance, replacement, and repair of natural gas distribution infrastructure. This role performs diverse fusing tasks related to new construction, repair, and maintenance of existing gas utility lines and related systems/equipment, including fusing pipe casings, vault lids, pipe fittings, metal parts, hot gas mains, repairing broken or cracked parts, filling holes, fabricating special parts and apparatus, and more.

• Support the crew with handling and fusing gas pipe.
• Fuse pipe that is ditched or drilled in the ground.
• Ensure every fuse meets quality standards.
• Keep tools in complete working order.
• Locate utilities by hand with a shovel and probe.
• Manage inventory on the truck.
• Teach other employees how to fuse pipe to the correct specifications.
• Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.

• High school diploma, or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of gas pipeline experience.

• Class A CDL.
• 2 or more years of gas pipeline experience.
• Operator Qualifications (OQs).

This job operates in a field environment and routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, and twisting. The role involves working in inclement weather, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to perform the essential functions of the job.

The position is physically active, with lifting requirements. The employee must be able to bend, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds, maintain visual acuity at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, and possess precise hand‑eye coordination and color discrimination.
