Summary

We are seeking a dependable and organized Administrative Assistant to support daily operations within the Utilities Department. This position provides administrative support to utility management and staff, assists with customer service related to utility accounts, and helps ensure accurate recordkeeping and compliance with department procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to the Utilities/Public Works team
  • Answer phones and assist customers with utility-related inquiries
  • Process utility paperwork, service requests, and work orders
  • Maintain utility records, files, permits, and reports
  • Assist with billing support, data entry, and account updates
  • Schedule inspections, service calls, and department meetings
  • Coordinate correspondence with internal departments and vendors
  • Ensure confidentiality of customer and department information
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree preferred)
  • Previous administrative experience, preferably in utilities or public service
  • Strong organizational and data-entry skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to communicate professionally with the public and staff
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with utility billing systems or municipal software
  • Customer service experience in a government or utility setting
  • Familiarity with public records or compliance documentation
Work Environment

Office-based with frequent interaction with utility staff and the public. Standard business hours with occasional flexibility as needed.
