Responsibilities- Monitor, track, and trend inventory data.
- Ensure accuracy of discrepancies per inventory taken.
- Fill requests on time, with correct quantity and product.
- Report timeliness; late reports trigger notices.
- Adhere to regulatory and contract requirements.
- Reduce excess and obsolete inventory.
- Track inventory turnover per item.
- Maintain adequate, safe, accessible, secure storage locations (e.g., order items by usage near loading dock).
- Optimize space utilization.
- Store in a manner inspectable by the customer (low clutter, organized, labeled).
- Maintain access control for each inventory; authorize/deauthorize access and monitor for unusual activity.
- Inspect and receive incoming items; understand required barcode schema and process.
- Ensure shipping meets export and safety regulations (EAS; ITAR).
- Ship in appropriate container, accessible and safe.
- Track and record transfers, in-process, and inspection/receiving destinations; confirm receipt at next location.
- Analyze quantity-to‑maintain based on estimated usage.
- Conduct accurate physical inventories on proper cycle.
- Audit counts and inventories of others.
- Research, document, and report discrepancies; dispose of obsolete or excess inventory.
- Compare inventory balances using beginning balance + received – shipped = ending balance.
- Assess inventory value using FIFO; report value and type for insurance and project cost‑plus billing.
- Periodically report inventory to the customer in their required format.
- Accrue sales taxes and regulatory fees for inventory sold to third parties.
- Follow up with customers to ensure receipt in good condition.
- Maintain a scrap policy and document scrap sales.
- Attention to detail; fill in all blanks.
- Use MS Excel and Word for data entry.
- Quantitative and analytical; estimate optimal inventory levels and research discrepancies.
- Own the inventory as if it is your own.
- Keep focus on SKU numbers, attributes, damage, counterfeit parts, and finish the inventory process.
- Communicate regular and effectively with customers and colleagues.
- Prioritize (e.g., 80/20 rule).
- Apply common sense; avoid wasting time on minor items.
- Maintain a positive attitude and desire to improve the inventory process continually.
- Government Furnished Equipment
- Contract requirement; may be for maintenance or task orders.
- No minimum dollar threshold to track.
- Managed under M.C. Dean’s responsibility for location, quantity, age, value, receiving, shipping and disposition.
- Inventory is valued for insurance purposes.
- Contractor‑Acquired Property
- Same requirements as GFE; M.C. Dean acquires equipment or supplies.
- Warehouse inventory
- Commercial or government customers provide equipment to be stored (e.g., Microsoft equipment at CCW).
- Can be for general use, or specific to projects/fabrication orders.
- Value of inventory determines insurance coverage and cost‑based billing.
- Location tracking (area, aisle, shelf) required.
- Inventory Held for Resale
- Batteries held for resale or transfer accrue environmental fees and sales tax.
- Batteries also held for maintenance contracts/task orders; transferred to projects at cost.
- Value inventory for insurance purposes.
- Bachelor’s Degree with 5+ years of experience, or High School Diploma/GED with 8+ years of experience.
- Preferred: supervisory or leadership experience.
- Exposed to computer screens for extended periods.
- Capable of sitting for extended periods.
- Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.
- Use keyboard (finger dexterity) regularly.
- Understand spoken information and ideas.
- Communicate verbally to ensure understanding.
- Read and comprehend written information.
- Apply general rules to specific problems; deliver logical answers.
- Identify and understand another person's speech.
