HVAC Superintendent
The HVAC Superintendent oversees HVAC and plumbing crews, subcontractors, and field personnel across multiple construction projects. This role ensures that all work is executed in accordance with project plans, specifications, schedules, and safety standards, while maintaining high levels of quality, productivity, and coordination with project stakeholders.
Responsibilities- Supervise HVAC and plumbing crews, subcontractors, and field personnel across assigned projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to quality standards.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers to ensure construction is executed in accordance with plans, specifications, and project schedules.
- Oversee jobsite logistics, including workforce coordination, material handling, equipment allocation, and site organization.
- Ensure full compliance with safety regulations and company safety protocols, including leading weekly safety meetings and managing site safety certifications.
- Plan project work schedules and sequence activities to optimize productivity and minimize disruptions.
- Coordinate material and equipment deliveries to align with project timelines and on-site needs.
- Maintain accurate daily reports, look-ahead schedules, requests for proposals (RFPs), and timesheets using company technology systems.
- Manage on-site communication with vendors, clients, inspectors, and internal stakeholders to keep all parties informed and aligned.
- Ensure subcontractors meet performance and quality expectations, including adherence to proper installation methods and industry standards.
- Conduct on-site inspections to identify and resolve conflicts, proactively mitigate schedule disruptions, and maintain project momentum.
- Manage the storage, maintenance, and proper use of company-owned equipment and tools to ensure reliability and safety.
- Support quality assurance protocols by monitoring workmanship and verifying that HVAC and plumbing installations meet design and code requirements.
- Apply mechanical construction knowledge to coordinate MEP work effectively and resolve technical issues in the field.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in mechanical construction, including at least 3 years in a Superintendent or comparable leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC and plumbing systems, including experience reading blueprints and coordinating MEP work.
- Working knowledge of OSHA and other relevant safety standards, supported by OSHA 30 or equivalent safety training.
- Proficiency in digital construction tools and reporting systems for managing schedules, documentation, and communication.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, crews, and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with project managers, subcontractors, vendors, clients, inspectors, and internal teams.
- Demonstrated leadership ability to direct field personnel, enforce standards, and drive project progress.
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments and remain calm under pressure in fast-paced construction settings.
- Mechanical aptitude and understanding of construction management principles related to HVAC and plumbing installations.
Skills & Qualifications
- Relevant trade licenses and certifications as required for mechanical, HVAC, or plumbing work.
- Experience in multifamily commercial construction projects, particularly in coordinating complex MEP scopes.
- Ability to interpret construction documents, specifications, and technical drawings accurately.
- Strong problem-solving skills to identify field issues and implement practical solutions quickly.
- Professional demeanor and the ability to maintain a clean, presentable appearance while representing the company on job sites and with clients.
