Salary: $110k/year + lodging & $500 vehicle stipend provided by the company, along with other benefits such as Medical (70), Dental (50), Vision (50), PTO, 401(K)(5) & Life insurance (100).
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) to support an underground construction project in Manassas, Virginia
. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of construction safety experience , including hands-on experience with underground construction , and a strong background working on USACE, NAVFAC, and other Federal construction projects
.
The SSHO will be responsible for ensuring all construction activities are performed safely and in compliance with OSHA, EM 385-1-1, and applicable Federal construction safety requirements

- Serve as the primary SSHO for the project and oversee all site safety activities.
- Implement and maintain the project Safety and Health Plan
. - Monitor underground construction activities for compliance with safety requirements.
- Conduct daily site inspections and identify potential hazards.
- Review and enforce Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
- Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and required employee training.
- Monitor subcontractors and workers for compliance with project safety requirements.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and EM 385-1-1.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses and prepare required reports.
- Maintain safety documentation, inspection records, training records, and corrective action documentation.
- Coordinate with project management, government representatives, subcontractors, and other stakeholders regarding safety matters.
- Identify unsafe conditions and stop work when necessary to protect personnel and property.
- Support government and project safety audits and inspections.
- 5+ years of construction safety experience
. - Underground construction experience is required.
- Experience working on Federal construction projects
. - Experience with USACE and/or NAVFAC projects
. - Strong working knowledge of EM 385-1-1.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA construction safety requirements
. - Experience with underground construction safety, including excavation, trenching, utility installation, and related activities.
- Ability to enforce safety procedures and communicate effectively with field personnel and subcontractors.
