Job Description

Pay Grade: Hourly, Part-time

Period of Employment: 9 months

Position Type: Temporary

Salary: $16.01 Per Hour

General Responsibilities
  • Seats students in an orderly manner in the cafeteria.
  • Supervises students and manages student behavior during meal service.
  • Assists with the cleanliness of the cafeteria by working with students to clear and clean the tables, chairs, and floors where students have eaten.
  • Communicates with students and staff in a positive and professional manner, using good customer service skills.
  • Monitors and encourages good table etiquette.
  • Assists students who need help during lunchtime.
  • Helps parents, relatives, or visitors who may enter the lunchroom.
  • Maintains order during student dismissal from the cafeteria.
  • Directs students to appropriate fire exits in emergency situations.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
Requisite Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to maintain a good working relationship with students, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift approximately 50 pounds.
  • Serve as role model.
Requisite

Education and Experience
  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is preferred.
Physical Requirements

Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physically capable of effectively using and operating various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.

Significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, or repetitive motions required.
