JOB SUMMARY:
This position accelerates the learning or acquisition of English for English language learners (ELLs) and the academic content of math, language arts, science, and social studies in order for LEP students to achieve passing classroom expectations, passing SOL scores, and meet graduation requirements. This position provides cross-cultural information about the American school system and being a student in an American school for LEP students.
This position serves as a liaison between the LEP student and all his/her classroom teachers and their families and the school. This position implements all ESOL program procedures in order to be in compliance with legal responsibilities. This position provides leadership and consultation as the second language expert/specialist to all staff in a school.

This position is responsible for accelerating English language acquisition and academic content learning in math, language arts, science, and social studies for multilingual learners. It ensures students have the academic English language to meet classroom expectations, achieve passing SOL scores, and fulfill graduation requirements. The role involves direct teaching responsibilities by providing instruction tailored to the needs of English learners (ELs).
It also provides cross-cultural information about the U.S. school system and student expectations. Additionally, it serves as a liaison between ELs, their classroom teachers, families, and the school community. This position implements all English Learner Program procedures to comply with state and federal requirements.
